About Argen Build

Where is your office location?

Our office is located right in the center of and close to most of our jobs. We are in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.

How many years of experience do you have?

Argen Build is a well-established company. We have been in business for more than 21 years, since 2003.

Can you provide references or testimonials from previous clients?

We can –and gladly do so- provide references or testimonials from previous clients.

We can also provide a specific referral list of clients with similar types of projects.

We encourage you to check what our clients say on this website and on Houzz, Angi, or Google, where we have pretty much all 5 stars reviews.

Do you have or work with architects, designers and other trade subs?

Yes, we do work and coordinate our work with architects and designers with a proven track record.

We also work in collaboration with a network of well-known, licensed subcontractors like plumbers, electricians, stone fabricators, hardwood flooring installers, and HVAC subs.

Kitchen Remodeling

How long does a kitchen remodeling project take from start to finish?

There are many variables to this question, but we can say that a kitchen renovation where there is no structural work involved takes about 6 weeks from the demo day until final inspections are passed.

The 2 major variables are 1. the efficiency of Building Department staff (we account for one week delay on stand-by for inspections) and 2. the Owner bringing the finishes on site by the time they are needed.

Who will help me with the material/finishes I need to purchase?

We provide you with a detailed list of materials you will need to purchase (quantities, specs, etc.…) along with a schedule for when we will need to have the materials/finishes on site so the project doesn’t have any delay. You will be receiving reminder messages from us as well.

In our contracts we offer you the possibility of us dealing with furnishing and supplying all the rough materials, to be reimbursed by the Owner.

Do you work with suppliers that you could recommend to me?

We work with finishes provided by clients from any source, but over time we have developed a list of local suppliers that have really good feedback with all our clients, and we are happy to share them when requested.

Is it a good idea to repaint kitchen cabinets instead of purchase new ones?

We think that it is a good alternative when the existing cabinets are in solid condition and well-kept. It all comes down to having more options at the moment of planning the budget for that renovation. With the proper technique, painting cabinets can bring new life to old cabinets.

Will you and your team be pet-friendly and respectful of my pets’ space?

At Argen Build we understand that our four-legged friends are part of the family, so we are happy to work around them. We will discuss and coordinate with pet owners to find out what kinds and how many pets, if there are any special instructions for entering and exiting the property. Also, depending on the size of the project, we will advise you to have the pets off site for their security.

Do you have your own plumbers, electricians, …?

Yes, we do.

Can I change the design plans mid-remodel?

You are free to change your ideas. Once you communicate it to us and we discuss the pros and cons of changing minds, we will generate a change order and both parties need to sign it before we proceed.

Same situation if the change is due to unforeseen causes or requested by the architect/designer or municipal officer.

What permits will be needed for the renovation and who will handle them?

For kitchen or bathroom renovations, the Building Department usually asks for Building, Plumbing and Electrical permits.

After the Owner-Client gives us the necessary 4 sets of signed and sealed drawings, we fill up the building, plumbing, fire and electrical tech sheets.

Then we have our subs sign and seal them.

These tech sheets and drawings altogether make up a construction application package ready to be reviewed by the Building Department.

When they finish their review, they come up with a price or permit fee that has to be paid by the client.

Is it a good idea to reglaze a bathtub and tiles instead of purchasing new ones?

When the tub is iron cast, yes, it’s a good alternative.
